Science suggests that consuming 30–60 grams or more of carbs per hour (even higher in ultra endurance activities) within a session will enhance performance. Although it may feel early, this should be started in the very first hour, ideally 10–15 minutes pre-start. These gels have carbs in the form of maltodextrin, which is absorbed quickly and used as muscle fuel. PURE Energy Gels are of a thicker, more traditional consistency than Pure's fluid gels, designed for snacking on, great for evenly spreading out your fuel intake.
